Once you are done with your harvest, your crop needs to dry. It is important to keep a close eye on when this should happen. Harvesting a tad too early or too late can cause a lot of problems. For drying your finished product, you can use a drying rack. A drying rack comes in many different shapes and sizes. From 46.5cm to 90cm we carry them in our range. So you have a stackable drying rack or a drying rack that you can hang from the ceiling or in your tent.

Drying your crop is not that easy

Drying is a profession in itself. Similarly, each crop needs its own humidity in the drying process. By decreasing it more and more in your space, you can bring the fruits to the right stage. It is often important to dry the produce in an enclosed / light-proof room. This ensures that the fruits will not discolor. Air circulation is also important. This also allows for the breakdown of humidity and ensures that the produce will not rot quickly.

 

How do you use a drying rack?

A hanging drying rack is the most common. These are easy to use and also break down well after use. A stackable drying rack is also commonly used, these are also used separately from fruits to simply dry laundry on. Be careful when placing products on a drying rack! If you place them too close together on the drying rack, rot may occur. So always make sure that there is proper ventilation around the drying rack. You can do this by using fans. Beware of using heaters, then the outside of the product wants to dry faster than the inside. This can make you think the product is done, then when storing the products the moisture that is still inside will be released again and the product can still rot!
