More than half a century ago, ECOstyle saw the light of day in the Netherlands with a visionary approach to a more sustainable world. Jan Zwart, originally working in the potato business, was alarmed by the increasing reliance on fertilizers, pesticides and other agro-chemicals. While these products increased yields, they also caused numerous problems. Crops became increasingly susceptible to disease, the soil microbiome became unbalanced, and farmland became less fertile.
