Growth Technology Root Riot Tray 77 Cells – propagation tray
Root Riot Tray: supreme seed & cutting propagation medium
The Growth Technology Root Riot Tray 77 Cells is a high-volume propagation medium designed to maximize initial root development. Designed from decades of horticulture experience, this propagation tray combines support structure, moisture holding and biodegradability to enable healthy cuttings and seedlings.
Material and composition
Every one of the 77 cells is constructed from a spongy matrix made from peat that ensures maximum air/water balance. This is such that it allows efficient access by roots to moisture as well as oxygen so that neither drying nor waterlogging can occur easily. The medium is held together with a TUV-certified bio-binder and is supplied with macro and micronutrients through RHP inoculation to aid initial growth.
Stability and biodegrad
The tray is fully biodegradable and safe for use in food production environments, with structural stability maintained even in hydroponic systems. Because the cells do not collapse easily, transplanting is smoother and causes minimal root disturbance.
Seed performance for seeds and cuttings
- Seeds: There is a pre-moistened Root Riot cell that can be used for direct planting seeds in the tiny top hole. The substrate is consistently even in moisture and promotes germination when roots develop.
- Cuttings: Cuttings are inserted carefully into preformed holes. The sponge root form promotes fast root initiation, commonly dominating rival propagation media. The well-balanced moisture combined with good aeration produce healthy root systems.
Usage guidelines
- Keep moisture ideal: The cell should be humid, not waterlogged—water sparingly when needed.
- Utilise with dome or humidity cover over cuttings to give a humid environment with minimal desiccation.
- When roots attain cell edge, transfer to substrate or hydroponic system; cube shape facilitates easy transition.
- For optimal performance, always presoak seeds in advance with a root stimulator such as Clonex Pro Start.
Advantages compared to alternatives Root Riot cubes experience steadier moisture content compared to rockwool, which usually dries inconsistently. In hydroponics applications, they do not clog systems while keeping their integrity intact. The combined nutrient as well as pH balance help in nurturing young roots further.
