The compressed coco substrate is ready for usage and does not require additional preparation or cleaning of a growing container before planting. Therefore, this product is designed for those who seek a simple and structured approach to growing on the coco substrate.
High-quality coco fibers
The substrate used in the Plagron Premium Growbag consists of the washed and buffered coco fibers. There are no fertilizers in the substrate, which allows managing the nutrition in accordance with plant's specific needs.
Washing and buffering coco substrate
The coco fibers used in the product are washed and buffered before being included in the product. Washing helps in reducing unnecessary elements in the substrate, while buffering makes the coco fibers ready for using as a growing medium.
The substrate features a high air capacity, which provides enough oxygen for the roots. Coco fibers also provide even water distribution in the substrate. It allows creating the right conditions for root development.
The substrate pH ranges from 5.0 to 7.5 in 1:1.5 proportion and EC is less than 0.5 mS/cm.
Growing medium and container
One of the main features of the Plagron Premium Growbag is a combination of the substrate and container. The coco medium is pre-compressed in the growbag, which means that there is no need for preparing a pot and filling it with the loose substrate.
There are two openings for dripping irrigation. Drainage holes allow excess moisture to leave the substrate, which prevents from over-moistening. It allows managing the water routine while keeping the substrate in the growbag.
Preparing the growbag
In order to use the growbag, it should be hydrated. It can be done by gradually pouring water to the substrate via drippers or by carefully pouring water into the growbag. In case of 3.4-litre variant, about 2.4 liters of water is needed to hydrate the substrate, and expand it up to 3.4 liters of the substrate.
After hydration, the coco substrate can be prepared for planting. Nutrients should be added during each irrigation, because there are no fertilizers in the substrate. The solution for irrigation should be adjusted to pH of 5.5 – 6.5 according to manufacturer recommendations.
Variants
The Plagron Premium Growbag comes in several sizes, which allows choosing the appropriate growing container and the substrate volume depending on the intended application. The variants include 3.4 liters and 8 liters.
The different sizes allow flexible planning of the growing process, while maintaining the same features of the Premium Growbag: compressed coco substrate, washed and buffered coco fibers, integrated container and special openings for dripping and draining.
Product features
The Plagron Premium Growbag is characterized by the combination of convenience and growing properties of coco substrate. High air capacity allows maintaining the availability of oxygen in the root zone, and the structure of coco fibers distributes water evenly in the substrate.
As there are no fertilizers in the substrate, its nutrition is managed separately with irrigation solution. The integrated bag design also simplifies the process of preparation, compared to filling the conventional pots with the loose substrate.
