Grow-safe the back-up professional: silent guardian for your grow room
Grow-Safe The Back-Up Professional is an emergency ventilation system designed to protect your grow room against odours and heat build-up when the main ventilation fails. With its intelligent battery system and automatic activation, it keeps extraction running for up to seven days without mains power, giving peace of mind even when the grow room is unattended.
How it works
Under normal conditions, your grow room is ventilated by a mains-powered extraction system that pulls warm, filtered air out through a carbon filter. When the power supply is interrupted or a fuse blows, this airflow stops and odours can quickly escape, while temperature can rise to harmful levels.
The Back-Up is connected in parallel to your existing ventilation system. It is not a replacement for your primary fan, but a dedicated emergency unit. Once installed and set to Auto mode, it continuously charges its internal, maintenance-free VLRA battery. As soon as the mains fails, the internal fan automatically starts within seconds and continues to extract air through the connected carbon filter for the selected number of days.
Simple installation
Installation is straightforward. Position The Back-Up preferably outside the grow room with the display visible. Connect the intake flange, marked “IN”, to a carbon filter inside the grow room using a 127 mm flexible hose. Connect another 127 mm hose to the “OUT” flange and lead it outside. Finally, plug the power lead into a wall socket that shares the same fuse as your regular ventilation system.
With the right-hand dial, select how many days of backup ventilation you require. More days means a lower fan speed, optimised for long runtime. With the left-hand dial, choose the operating mode: Off, Auto, Reset or Manual. For daily use, Auto is the recommended setting.
Smart operation and safety
During normal operation, the running LEDs on the display indicate charging. In a power cut, the display switches to battery level indication, and after power is restored, a blinking display shows that an outage has occurred, which you can acknowledge with the Reset position.
The Back-Up is equipped with deep-discharge protection and is designed for continuous charging without loss of capacity. Safety warnings include keeping hands and objects away from the intake and outlet, avoiding moisture and upside-down placement, and never opening or drilling into the housing due to the built-in battery.
