Electrodes are delicate sensors for measuring vital parameters like pH or conductivity. Their accuracy rests on proper care, i.e., cleaning and storage. Spiking an electrode with distilled water when finished will not be enough; it should be stored in solution, such as Growth Technology's Storage Solution, so that its glass bulb and delicate membrane are not harmed by remaining moist.How to store electrodes
When completing a measurement, wash the electrode with distilled water and store it in a storage container, i.e., the electrode cap or small bottle. Store the electrode tip wet with a storage solution. Growth Technology Storage Solution contains KCI 3.5M, or buffer 4, to prime the electrode for use.Avoid the use of wetted cotton or any material that may get in contact with the electrode bulb since it may damage its fragile components.Deep cleaning guidelines
Deep cleaning is in some cases necessary, especially if the electrode has been used in wastewater or in high-color solutions.
